Choose a Setup Mode
Quick Start
What This Mode Does - (Analytics-Only)
- Uses your pre-existing analytics data
- Enables page-level attribution modeling
- Requires zero code changes
What You’ll Get
- Path flows
- Conversion sequence analysis
- Lookback-based journey stitching
- Aggregated session insights
Connect Your Analytics Source
Currently supported: Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Other CDPs via import (CSV/JSON) For GA4: Enter your Property ID Add your Service Account JSON or API credentials Select the data stream to use Tailkey will automatically validate permissions (read access) Tailkey pulls: page_view session_start / session_end conversion events UTM parameters timestamps and durations
Map Key Events
You’ll define: Primary conversion event Secondary/assisted events Optional micro-conversions Tailkey auto-suggests events based on your GA schema.
Choose Your Lookback Window
Common choices: 30 days (fastest processing) 90 days (recommended default) 180 days (for long journeys)
Generate Your First Model
Tailkey processes your imported data and creates: baseline path map conversion flow page-level contribution model Processing takes a few minutes depending on dataset size.
Full Precision
What This Mode Does - (Recommended)
- Adds Tailkey’s script to your site
- Tracks content-level interactions, impressions, and scroll depth
- Provides high-resolution user journey modeling
- Enables multi-touch influence scoring
What You’ll Get
- Block-level attribution
- Real-time streaming events
- Scroll & attention modeling
- Impression-based weighting
- Visit continuity across sessions
- Page layout analysis
Install the Tailkey Script
You can install via: Website header tag Tag manager (GTM, Adobe Launch, etc.) Place the script as high in the as possible for early DOM observation.
Verify Script Installation
Tailkey provides: Instant script status check Real-time ping verification Last-seen timestamp per environment Expected confirmation message: “Script active and receiving events.”
Enable Block Detection
Tailkey automatically identifies: content blocks components CTAs hero sections product modules You can override detection by tagging elements with: data-tailkey-block="BlockName"
Enable Impression Tracking (Optional)
This activates: time-on-module scroll influence repeated exposure weighting diminishing returns modeling Enabled with one toggle inside Settings.
Configure Conversions
Same steps as Quick Start, plus the ability to: set cross-block credit attribute conversions to both impressions and clicks define intent-based micro-conversions
Run Your Full Precision Model
Your model will now include: block-level scoring influence weights visit stitching time-decay patterns path clusters Processing time is typically 3–5 minutes.
Post-Setup FAQ
Tailkey maintains its own data storage layer for:
- raw events
- block metadata
- attribution outputs
- model state
- processing logs
You do not need to provision your own database.
Tailkey storage is:
- isolated per workspace
- encrypted
- model-ready
- version controlled
Tailkey provides a validation panel with:
Quick Start Validation
- GA connection status
- event sampling rate
- event volume by day
- path continuity check
- missing conversions scan
Full Precision Validation
- script heartbeat
- block detection
- impression coverage
- scroll-time distribution
- event velocity
- DOM hydration success
Tailkey recommends achieving:
- 80%+ block detection
- 70%+ scroll visibility
- <5% broken paths
- Create micro-segment paths
- Observe shifts in conversion flow
- Test content reorganizations
- Compare Exploratory vs. Precision mode
- Export insights via CSV or API
- Set up ongoing model refreshes
Once the model is complete, your dashboard will display:
- most influential pages/blocks
- conversion-weighted exposure paths
- segment differences
- bottleneck analysis
- comparison of expected vs. observed influence
